Serie 200

Characteristics

We are talking about the 200 series, austenitic stainless steel with Nickel content between 1% and 6% and Chrome between 14% and 17.5%, they are the most economical alternative to Aisi 304.

They also represent a family in itself, 201, 202, 204 Cu, 216, etc.

This variety of range of the 200 series, allows each manufacturer and according to what uses, adjust their production costs.

A product with a long presence in the world market, but little known in Europe.

The presence in the European market of products and equipment, manufactured abroad with these alloys, certify the correctness of their use, since it is modifying, constructive and design concepts, uses and costs as perhaps few materials have. made in recent years.

You are solving the equation, function-cost-time.

The life of a product of 20 years, must incorporate the cost of a material, with a life of 100 years?

Features:

This family of stainless steel alloys with an austenitic structure, have mechanical characteristics, with which excellent cold forming is obtained, since it has a high drawing, curved and spun coefficient.

Welding: the same elements are used as for the 300 series, wire, electrodes, etc.

Aplications

Its use in food applications is endorsed by: NSF/ ANSI 51, year 2002 of the USA; Food equipment materials, and by the Commission of the Council of Europe; Guide to metals and alloys for materials in contact with food, 02/13/2002.

It is concluded that the 200 series with a chrome content greater than 13% is suitable for the manufacture of components in contact with food.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Food industry:

– Elements that require significant stuffing, kitchenware.

– Kitchens, ice makers.

– Beverage dispensers, carts, trays.

Equipment:

– Washing machines, dishwashers, sinks, etc.

Building:

– Railings, cladding, elevators, entrances, furniture, structures, decoration.

Transportation:

-Railway, Components, Trucks, special vehicles.

Industry:

-Packaging, cylinders, assembly lines, packaging, pressure closures, stairs.

Components

Series 200, alloy components: Effects

Manganese:

It appears in practically all alloy steels, used as an antioxidant, sulfur and oxygen neutralizer, and austenite stabilizer. Prevents the appearance of porosity.

Chromium:

Promotes resistance to corrosion, increases hardness and resistance to traction and wear

Nickel:

The primary austenitizing element, improves elasticity and elongation.

Copper:

Increases cold deformability, decreases hardening speed, increases resistance to corrosion and favors polishing.

Nitrogen:

Increases mechanical properties, resistance to pitting corrosion and is an excellent austenite former.
